International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR)The ASCC is an active member of the ISSCR. In 2004 the ASCC successfully lobbied and won the 2007 ISSCR Annual Meeting, held in Cairns, in June, it was the first time the meeting had been held outside of North America. The ASCC was very proud to be the Premier Sponsor of the annual meeting and local host organisation. Alongside the ASCC, Invest Australia and the Queensland Government sponsored the event. The Annual Meeting attracted almost 2000 stem cell researchers from around the world and was an opportunity to highlight Australia’s role in stem cell research to the participants.
