Due Diligence

The field of stem cell research is attracting considerable interest worldwide. Many governments and scientific research bodies are investing large sums of money and resources in order to develop breakthrough discoveries offering potential to change the paradigm in medical treatments. Australia has developed a world competitive position in stem cell research and is poised to take advantage of this medical revolution.

To ensure that all projects funded by the Centre offer the best prospects of competing on an international level, the Centre has implemented a rigorous review, or due diligence, process.

Research applications have been received from over 40 stem cell and related field research groups from around Australia. These proposals have been ranked by the Centre's panel of experts according to scientific excellence and potential to address a significant unmet clinical need.

The highest ranking projects are currently being developed into synergistic programs that build upon existing capabilities. The Centre is committed to working with all research applicants in order to optimise and synergise their projects with Centre programs and funding will be set aside for future opportunities.

The due diligence process will remain an integral part of the Centre in the future. The Centre will seek out new opportunities and discoveries to supplement existing programs and from time to time develop new programs.

If you believe that you have a research project which might fit within the Centre's research strategy, please contact us.
