Excellence, Strategy, Focus and Synergy are the key pillars of our portfolio. This allows the ASCC to maintain a research portfolio extending from basic understanding to delivery of therapies. In this way, we can deliver in key therapeutic areas today while growing the next therapeutic areas for tomorrow.

The ASCC currently supports a portfolio of projects encompassing fundamental, strategic and directed stem cell research. This research portfolio consists of Fundamental Stem Cell Research Platforms in both adult stem cells and embryonic stem cells. We also support specific programs in key therapeutic areas. The current Therapeutic Program of the ASCC is in the area of blood (haematology). The objective of this program is the development of transfusible blood cell products generated using either adult or embryonic stem cells. There is considerable intellectual and research overlap between the Platforms and the Haematology Program. All our research is supported by key research Core Services and infrastructure and our support of key technologies as Enabling Technology grants.

Researchers supported by the ASCC include internal research staff as well as external researchers located within Stakeholder Institutions affiliated with the Australian Stem Cell Centre.
